Why we love this itinerary

A wonderul 11 day journey across Nambia starting with Sossusvlei to make the most of this beautiful region with our private naturalist guide who knows the region inside out. Travelling north along the skeleton coast you'll have a litle free time in Swakopmund to explore the sights and sample some excellent seafood. The comes Damaraland and searching for the desert adapted elephants plus a visit to Twyfelfontein rock engravings, and finally Etosha for some superb game viewing and wild cat tracking. This trip has wonderful accommodations with outstanding guiding so you don't have to think about a thing. It's the perfect trip for anyone who wants a guide but doesn't want a group tour, and the accommodations are really a wow factor!

Days 1-3 | Windhoek to Sossusvlei

After your international flights you'll rest up in Windhoek for a night at the lovely Weinberg hotel so that you are ready for your Namibian adventure the next day. Departing Windhoek in luxurious vehicle with pop top roof, you'll be driven to the Namib Desert enjoying a scenic picnic en-route, before arriving at the luxurious Sossusvlei Desert Lodge situated in the NamibRand Nature Reserve. The afternoon can be spent enjoying many of the activities offered by Sossusvlei Desert Lodge.

You will rise early for a magical excursion into the Namib Naukluft National Park, entering the Park gates at sunrise to capture the dunes whilst the light is soft and shadows accentuate their towering shapes and curves. This area boasts some of the highest free-standing sand dunes in the world. Your guide will give you an insight on the formation of the Namib Desert and its myriad of fascinating creatures and plants that have adapted to survive these harsh environs.

The Weinberg and Sossusvlei Desert Lodge

Days 4-5 | Swakopmund

Waving goodbye to the Namib Desert, you'll head north with your guide to the town of Swakopmund and you'll have the afternoon to explore this lovely town before enjoying dinner at a restaurant that specializes in exceptional seafood. The following day is a free day to explore and enjoy all the activities on offer, from boat trips to kayaking with seals, sandboarding to quadbiking, and scenic flights or hot air ballooning over the skeleton coast, there's lots to do if you fancy it!

The Delight

Days 6-7 | Damaraland

As you move on from the cooler coastal air of Swakopmund you'll be driven up to Damaraland. Here you will visit the rock engravings at Twyfelfontein (a World Heritage Site), and be treated to an exciting 4x4 excursion along the ephemeral Aba Huab River valley to explore this remarkable region and to search for game, especially the elusive desert adapted elephants.

Mowani Mountain Camp

Days 8-11 | Etosha & Okonjima

Next, you'll make your way by road, deeper into the heart of Damaraland. En-route you will visit an extremely remote Himba village, only known to a few people. Continuing on you reach Southern Etosha where you can relax at the camp’s floodlit waterhole whilst contemplating the fascinating impressions of the day.

You'll enjoy an exciting morning guided game drive into the Etosha National Park, to see more of the wide variety of game and bird species that are to be found there before returning to Ongava Lodge for a late lunch. There is then time to relax by the refreshing swimming pool before you head out again for an afternoon game drive before sunset, or opt to spend the whole day in the park - it's up to you!

Finally, you will make your way south through the small towns of Outjo and Otjiwarongo before arriving at Okonjima, where you will embark on an exciting and informative game drive and tour of the centre. Here you will learn about the function and vision of the AfriCat Foundation and will also get to meet some of the Foundation’s special carnivore ambassadors. You have a final night here to enjoy more game activities and wild cat tracking, before heading back to Windhoek for your flight home.
